Marketing consultant
We think along when you need it.
Afterwards you have someone who knows your business and who you can call before making a decision. Not a project you're locked into. A sounding board that's honest, even when that's inconvenient.
What you get
Someone who knows your context and doesn't need re-briefing each time, and an honest answer, even when it stings.
What is a marketing consultant?
A marketing consultant thinks along on demand about brand, marketing and communication, without a full project attached. WIT.agency gets called in for four kinds of questions: a decision on the table, a plan that needs a fresh look, a proposal from an agency that needs judging, and the longer-term direction. We get to know your business like on any other job, since advice without context is just an opinion.
It's also called marketing advisor or external marketing expert. It differs from a fractional CMO: a consultant thinks along and you decide and follow up, a fractional CMO takes over part of the leadership. Whoever mainly wants a sounding board is in the right place here.

Who it is for
For founders, directors and marketing leads who want a senior marketing adviser to think alongside them, not a junior to hand a brief to.
Why WIT
Advice shaped in FMCG, finance, education, tech and public innovation, so we usually recognise the problem before you finish describing it.
This is why they call us.
“I want to test this with someone who has no stake in it.”
These are the questions you're still thinking about in the evening. Thinking about them alone rarely resolves them.
What we look at
Four kinds of questions. One fixed contact.
Thinking along only works if it can happen fast, and it can only happen fast if someone already knows your business. That's why this isn't a one-off consultation but an ongoing arrangement, however small.
Decision
A choice is on the table and you want to test it.
New market, new name, different channel, appointing a partner. One conversation is often enough, and then that is it.
Plan
A plan exists and you want to know what is missing.
We read it through the eyes of someone who did not write it, and name what is missing or overstated.
Proposal
A quote from an agency is on the table and you are unsure.
We judge the proposal on content and price, and say where it is solid. Even if the conclusion is that you should just sign.
Direction
You want someone to keep an eye on the whole every so often.
A few hours a month to hold the lines, without us taking over execution. The lightest thing we offer.
What it comes down to
From standing alone to being able to check it with someone.
What's there now
You get an eighteen-page proposal from an agency. You suspect it's too expensive, but you don't know where.
So it gets signed or dropped on gut feeling. Both cost you money.
What's there afterwards
You forward it and hear the next day which three line items are normal, which two are unnecessary.
One half-hour conversation, with someone who already knows your business.
Illustrative example, not from an actual client.
The deliverable
Here's what it looks like when it's done.
Not a document but availability: someone you can call who already knows your context.
- 01One fixed contact who knows your business
- 02A short note on every conversation where something was decided
- 03A judgment on plans and proposals you bring to us
- 04A referral to someone better suited, where needed
- 05An overview of what's in play, if you want it
How it usually goes
A fixed way of working. No fixed package.
This is the usual sequence. Where we go deep and where we keep it short gets decided during intake.
Intake
We ask the questions. What you sell, who decides, and what you are stuck on right now. Then we read through what exists.
supply material
Thinking along
You call or email when something is on the table. We answer with a judgment, not with options.
call when needed
Keeping track
We track what was decided and why, so a year from now you still know how you got here.
nothing
Where it varies
If it's all one decision, this is one conversation and stops there. Want someone checking in monthly, we agree on a rhythm.
Where it never varies
We always give a judgment, not a list of options. And we always say when the answer is that you don't need us.
What it costs
No rate card. One number.
One conversation about one decision is a different job than checking in monthly on an organisation with four brands. That's why there's no fixed price tag.
What there is: once the approach is set, the number is fixed. No hourly billing, no extra costs halfway through.
What determines the scope
How often you need us.
Once, quarterly, or a few hours every month.
How complex your situation is.
One brand and one market, or a portfolio with multiple audiences.
What you expect from us.
Just thinking along, or also reviewing documents and choosing partners together.
Whether it stays at thinking.
Once we start making things, it's no longer consultancy, and we agree that separately.
Honestly
Sometimes you need something else.
You want someone to take the lead instead of thinking along.
Look at Fractional CMOYou first want to know where you stand today.
Look at Brand audit or Marketing auditYou have a concrete execution question.
Look at Search engine marketingYou are looking for a report to justify a decision that is already made.
Then we are not the right fitClient quote coming.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask before they start.
What does a marketing consultant cost?
There's no fixed rate, since it varies how often and how deep you need us. Price depends on frequency, the complexity of your situation, and whether we also review documents.
Can we meet just once?
Yes. Sometimes one good conversation is enough, and then that's it. If more is needed, you'll hear that from us, with the reason attached.
What's the difference with a fractional CMO?
A consultant thinks along, a fractional CMO carries. With the first, the decision and follow-up stay with you. With the second, we take on part of the leadership.
Do we always get a clear answer?
Yes. We give a judgment, not a list of options, since that is not what you would bring in an outsider for.
Do you also review proposals from other agencies?
Yes, and it happens often. We look at content and price and say where it is solid, even if the conclusion is that you should just sign.
How fast do you respond?
For ordinary questions, the same or next business day. If something urgent is on the table, we say whether we can make it.
Do we need to commit to a minimum number of hours?
No. It works better with an ongoing arrangement than loose questions, since the value sits in us already knowing your context.
Do you also execute?
If it comes to that, we agree it separately. As long as it stays at thinking along, this is consultancy.
Marketing consultant or marketing adviser, what is the difference?
None that matters here. Either way you get senior, independent marketing advice you can act on.
